Thompson represents Boot Campaign in Indy
Thanks to our friends at Thompson Pipe Group, Boot Campaign was represented on the national stage at NASCAR’s Indy Brickyard 400 driven by NASCAR driver Dean Thompson!
The Thompson Pipe Group team was joined at the track by Boot Campaign Veteran Ambassador Ricky Raley. Ricky is a former infantryman in the Indiana Army National Guard that served during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
On one mission, Ricky’s truck was leading the way when the mine roller tripped an IED (improvised explosive device). Ricky, along with two others in the truck at the time of the explosion, sustained mild traumatic brain injuries and were awarded Purple Hearts. In 2009, six months and 17 days after returning from Iraq, Ricky was involved in a near-fatal truck accident leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. More than a decade after the accident, Ricky completed his care through Boot Campaign’s Health & Wellness Program.
“It was a blast at the race, “ Ricky shared. “The car looked incredible on the track, and I enjoyed spending time with Dean, the Thompson Pipe team and Sam Hunt Racing. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share with them about my connection to Boot Campaign and how it has changed my life in every way.”
