Giving Back in Every Season

/

When our Seasons of Service Program delivers support to military families throughout the year, it’s not a generic experience. Each individual is specially shopped for to meet their specific needs so that they know when they face unthinkable circumstances: YOU MATTER.

One recipient family has been battling health challenges. Phillip’s journey began in spring 2023 when he was diagnosed with a rare cancer linked to burn pit exposure during his military service in Iraq. After 33 rounds of radiation, he reached remission, offering hope to his family. However, in late 2024, a persistent cough led to devastating news—the cancer had returned and spread to his lungs. He is still undergoing treatments and hospital stays, even today.

Throughout this, Kelsey, his wife, has become the family’s sole provider and caregiver, balancing full-time work, Phillip’s treatments, and caring for their children. Despite immense challenges, this  family remains united, striving to create meaningful moments together and hold onto hope in the face of uncertainty.

After years of treatments, missing out on opportunities as a family and moving to provide the care that Phillip needs, it was our honor to uniquely select gifts for him and his family through our Seasons of Service Program. His wife wrote:

“When we learned of the gifts and gift cards you provided in support of our family as we navigate Phillip’s terminal cancer diagnosis, we were overwhelmed. The kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity behind your gift went far beyond anything we could have imagined.

Please know that your compassion and support have touched our hearts in ways we will never forget. Thank you for caring for military families like ours and for showing up when it matters most. Your kindness has made a lasting difference in our lives.

You gave our children happy memories, gave us reasons to celebrate, and reminded us that we are not walking this road alone. During a time when so much can feel heavy, you brought light into our home.”
