2023 Health & Wellness Program Impact Report

/

Asking for help for invisible wounds of war is the most courageous thing a Veteran can do; by doing so, they are going into battle again – a very personal one against unseen foes. It’s unfamiliar territory, without the equipment and years of training that they’re used to.

Veterans like Jessica* who served in the U.S. Navy and shared the following:

“I want to thank you for choosing me to invest in. One part of me is still in disbelief that I have all this support (it feels so unreal), another part of me is scared to fail you all (feelings of unworthiness) and another part of me feels like I need to rush through it all so that someone else is able to utilize these amazing services.

I can’t even explain what is happening to me. I have been stuck for a very long time and often I have felt like I’ll never get out of this funk. It’s been a long time since I felt hopeful. I’ve been so used to holding on to everything that it is scary to think what would happen if I was better or cured of my depression and anxiety. I want to thank Boot Campaign for your investment in me and Veterans like me.”

Applications for our Health & Wellness Program rose more than 60% in 2023 and we provided individualized, holistic and comprehensive care for more Veterans struggling with brain injury, posttraumatic stress disorder, chronic pain, self medication and insomnia than ever before.

Representing every era of service and every branch, the 1,085 men and women we impacted through our Health & Wellness Program in 2023 overcame the stigma associated with seeking help, faced their fears head on and committed to putting in the work needed towards a better quality of life for themselves and their families. These deserving individuals collectively received over 22,650 hours of high-touch, individualized care over the last year because of patriots and grateful Americans that help make these life-improving treatments, therapies and resources cost-free for those Boot Campaign serves.

But serving our nation’s Veterans and military families is not always easy. There are tears and triumphs, sadness and tremendous showings of strength. But the battles we face together are some we can confidently win with true commitment to continued growth, change and the right teammates. All of us at Boot Campaign are grateful for those who entrusted their care to us and we look forward to moving forever forward – together.
