RIP to our dear friend, Gene Dykes
It is with great sadness that Boot Campaign has learned about the passing of a long-time volunteer of ours. Our friend, Gene Dykes passed away on Monday.
Gene first joined the Boot Campaign as a volunteer back in 2010. In his time with us he has volunteered at such events as the Shiner Veterans Day Pub Crawl, Boot Run Houston and the Shiner Beer Run. We even remember last year at Shiner Beer Run… Sweet Gene was on the race route volunteering in the pouring rain. He was the first volunteer to arrive and the last volunteer to leave the course that day – soaked to the bone and covered in mud.
He had a tremendous heart for the men and women of our military and would stay in constant contact with us as he continued to stay involved and lend a helping hand.
He was loved by many and will be missed by all! RIP dear friend.
