Nashville gets their BOOTS ON for Veterans Day Weekend!
Nashville, TN (November 20, 2013) – Since the Boot Campaign’s start in 2010, Nashville residents have been some of our loudest and proudest supporters. From country music artists to local business owners, Nashville has a heart of gold when it comes to showing gratitude for those who serve. This Veterans Day Weekend was no exception, as the community came together not once, not twice, but for three big events to let troops know that they have the support of the Nashville community.
The weekend kicked off on Saturday, November 9th with “Boots and Bourbon” – hosted at the home of Andy and Amy Sale. Wild Turkey and Shiner Beer sponsored the evening and tickled the palates of the 130 attendees, including special guests including Storme Warren, Jeffrey Steele and Scotty Emerick.
The party continued Sunday at the 2nd Annual Boot Run Nashville held in Franklin’s Meridian Center. 300 runners participated in the 5K, several of which braved the pavement in their Boot Campaign combat boots! Boot Run Nashville raised more than $20,000 for the Boot Campaign, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to our partner charity, Nashville-based Courage Beyond. Courage Beyond’s primary focus is Wellness Services for active duty and former military, primarily in treatment of Post Traumatic Stress.

Tom Morales, owner of Nashville’s The Southern Steak & Oyster Restaurant, turned a few heads on Veteran’s Day when he purchased Boot Campaign combat boots for his afternoon wait staff. As mouth-watering entrees were served, 15 restaurant staffers fashioned combat boots to spark conversation about how they’re show their gratitude for our men and women serving in our military. The Boot Campaign is a national 501c3 nonprofit that is dedicated to showing tangible appreciation of our active military, raising awareness of the challenges they face upon return and supporting their transition home.
