Steve needed purpose and structure, and he found them both in his 30-year career with the U.S. Marine Corps. He deployed many times as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician, but when Steve retired and his life slowed down, he began to feel the weight of his experiences. From grief over lost teammates to unprocessed trauma, that load became too much to carry on his own. We couldn’t fulfill thousands of needs and wishes each year through our Seasons of Service Program without the help of individual and corporate volunteers, like our friends at Bob Moore Construction.  Led by CEO Ed McGuire, the family-owned construction company has been involved for more than five years to donate and wrap presents at our warehouse in Grapevine, Texas. Jeff went straight into the U.S. Navy after graduating high school in 1987. During his career that spanned both pre- and post-9/11, Jeff witnessed events that took the lives of many of his brothers and sisters in arms. He carried the weight of his experiences and those tragic losses with him, leading to a pattern of avoidance and withdrawal from loved ones.
