Annual Motorcycle Ride and After Party Provides Housing Assistance to Veterans in Southern California.
December 3, 2012 (Los Angeles, CA) — It was a day of sunshine, motorcycles and honoring our brave military heroes at the SOLD OUT 3rd Annual Boot Ride and Rally on August 25th. The annual Boot Ride is hosted by the cast of FX’s Sons of Anarchy with the intention of cultivating awareness, promoting patriotism, and providing assistance to military personnel, and their families, through the national nonprofit, the Boot Campaign. Cast members from FX’s Sons of Anarchy led 500 SOA fans, Military Veterans, Active U.S. Military and motorcycle enthusiasts from the USS Iowa in San Pedro, CA to the Happy Ending Bar and Restaurant in Hollywood, CA. At the Happy Ending Bar and Restaurant, 2,000 people rocked out to live music from Blackberry Smoke, Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown, and the Forest Rangers.
Among the cast of Sons of Anarchy in attendance were Charlie Hunnam, Kim Coates, Tommy Flanagan, Theo Rossi, Mark Boone Junior, Jimmy Smits, Winter Ave Zoli, David LaBrava, Michael Ornstein, Chris Reed, Niko Nicotera, and Rusty Coones.
During the Boot Ride, the Boot Campaign and Sons of Anarchy cast members Theo Rossi and Kim Coates, presented a $10,000 donation to Veterans First—the only homeless shelter specifically for U.S. Military Veterans in Southern California. Ron Perlman and Theo Rossi first visited the Veterans First Homeless Shelter on Thanksgiving Day 2012, presenting them with an initial $10,000 donation from the Boot Campaign.
The night before Boot Ride, the Boot Campaign and Wild Turkey hosted a cocktail reception for 9 Purple Heart Veterans, Boot Ride sponsors, and other special guests, at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. Guests enjoyed a private tasting with Wild Turkey’s Master Distiller Jimmy Russell, and bowling at the Roosevelt’s gaming parlour and cocktail lounge, The Spare Room. During the reception, the Boot Campaign presented Purple Heart recipient John Escoto (U.S. Army Ret.) and his wife Nina, with the key to a mortgage-free home. The mortgage-free home presentation was made possible through the Boot Campaign’s program partner, Military Warriors Support Foundation. Together, the Boot Campaign and Military Warriors Support Foundation have provided nearly 20 mortgage-free homes to severely combat wounded veterans and their families. On hand for the presentation were Sons of Anarchy cast members, Theo Rossi, Kim Coates, Tommy Flanagan, and Mark Boone Junior.
