Service was a way of life in Freddie’s family. With a sense of duty and patriotism, he joined the Navy and served for 30 years, deploying multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan. When Freddie retired from the military, he struggled with carrying the burden of three decades of service and the toll it takes on both your body and brain. Determined to transition well and be the husband, father and person he wanted to be, Freddie reached out to Boot Campaign and found authentic treatment that allowed intentional healing. Sharing Veteran Stories: Freddie Hicks

Meet Tanner who served in the U.S. Army as an infantryman in Afghanistan and later as a Special Operations Civil Affairs Medical Sergeant, supporting the U.S. Embassy operations in Northeast Syria and Bangladesh. Upon his return, he felt numb, struggling with posttraumatic stress disorder and suicidal ideation. When he saw that he needed help, he reached out to Boot Campaign and it changed his trajectory. Our approach of not only supporting Veterans but their families as well meant that Tanner, his wife and family would all benefit. As Tanner would go on to say, “This program isn’t transactional, it’s relational.” With your support, more Veterans like Tanner will get the treatment they need and so deserve. Sharing Veteran Stories: Tanner Wilde

Mark comes from a long line of military service and knew at a young age he wanted to join the Armed Forces. He continued his family’s tradition and served in the U.S. Navy for more than three decades on an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team. The intense nature of his work wore on his body, but after his retirement, he started having troubling health and cognitive issues that led him to Boot Campaign. Through our individualized program, Mark regained control of his mental, emotional, and physical health.

Chris joined the U.S. Navy at 19 and served as an EOD Technician for 26 years, enduring numerous injuries to both his brain and body. Upon retirement, Chris became reliant on multiple medications that made him feel like “a shell of a person.” Following his individualized treatment plan through our Health & Wellness Program, Chris now manages his symptoms completely free of medications and continues to live his best life with his family.
