Santa Boots Partner Spotlight: Operation Homefront
In February of 2022, the team at Operation Homefront celebrated 20 years of impactful service on behalf of America’s military families, and we are honored to have had their support of our holiday program, Santa Boots, for the last five years!
“When we first launched the Santa Boots program in 2015, we received nominations for military families through our own networks, but we knew there was a much bigger need and opportunity,” said Shelly Kirkland, CEO of Boot Campaign. “Partnering with like-minded organizations like Operation Homefront has allowed us to broaden our impact to hundreds more deserving veteran and military families across the U.S.”
Since 2017, Operation Homefront has supported our Santa Boots program by nominating more than 150 families to receive our curated box of gifts that meet the needs of military families who are experiencing an unforeseen hardship. Additionally, the Operation Homefront team has been involved in various aspects of the fulfillment and execution of Santa Boots – from wrapping gifts to hand-delivering them to those being supported.
Robin Carter, a Senior Director at Operation Homefront, shared with us what the program means to their team, her favorite experiences and her hopes as we continue to partner and spread extra cheer to veteran and active-duty military families.
“Too often, financial or personal hardships prevent military families from gaining and/or maintaining the standard of living they—and their loved ones—so richly deserve,” said Carter. “By partnering with Boot Campaign, Operation Homefront through the Santa Boots program has been able to serve our military families who are struggling to make ends meet.
“I have had the opportunity to deliver Santa Boots goodness but the most fun I have had was delivering alongside Santa, Mrs. Claus and Buddy the Elf! Not only have I seen the surprise on the families’ faces, but also the joy in the children’s eyes that it was personally delivered by Santa. It always brings tears to my eyes.
“I look forward to seeing the number of families we serve increase as we engage our amazing volunteers nationwide, helping us to deliver the Santa Boots goodness to the most deserving families, regardless of where they live.”
