Nitro Circus Goes Behind The Scenes with Boot Campaign
Nitro Circus is what happens when a group of extremely talented and fearless friends decide to make their hobby into their profession. The Nitro Circus crew represents a cross section of everything awesome in action sports: freestyle motocross, BMX, skateboarding, scooter, snowboarding, skiing, BASE jumping, skydiving, and a bunch of other stuff that shouldn’t be taken down a ramp. Nitro Circus tours the world putting on shows featuring all of the above and more. But by pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in action sports, these action sports athletes have endured epic crashes and legendary falls. As the organization worked to put procedures in place to protect their team, Nitro Circus ringleader Travis Pastrana reached out to the Boot Campaign.
Since 2016, Boot Campaign has provided holistic and individualized treatment for veterans with invisible wounds of war. There are many similarities in head injuries suffered by veterans and those these athletes have experienced.
To dig deeper on best practices on how to help their athletes recover from head injuries, four Nitro Circus team members went behind the scenes of the Boot Campaign Health and Wellness pipeline, with a film crew in tow, hoping to shed more light on brain injury, mental health and overall wellness. Each of the three facilities visited by Nitro Circus athletes are part of a customized care program specifically for veterans created by Boot Campaign.
