From Recipient to Volunteer, Veteran Mark Endy Shares Experience with Seasons of Service Program

Because our mission at Boot Campaign is to provide individualized care, we truly get to know those we serve, as is the case with Retired U.S. Army National Guard and U.S. Navy Veteran Mark Endy.
Mark applied to our Health & Wellness Program, struggling with depression after his retirement from the military (click here to listen to his story). While working closely with him through his individualized treatment plan, it was apparent Mark would not have the means to provide Christmas needs and wishes for his children that year.
“As Veterans we come home, we are disassociated; we don’t feel emotion and the holiday is just a routine,” said Mark. “But when the boxes from Boot Campaign’s Seasons of Service Program showed up, my kids and I were overwhelmed. To say Boot Campaign changed my life is an understatement. I got my kids back. They got their father back.”
Inspired by the life-changing impact that Boot Campaign made on him and his family during a difficult time, Mark has vowed to pay it forward in whatever way he can.
“I believe you should give back to what you’ve been given. That’s why I drive down from Virginia twice a year to volunteer for Boot Campaign. Because of the passionate team and individualized care I received, I’m mentally healthier, physically stronger and ready to fulfill my life’s purpose and part of that is giving back. What Boot Campaign has done for me, my family and our community will echo for a very long time.”
